It sounds tighter and more defined than the Waves Q The PSP has a slightly harmonic feel to it whereas the Waves Q10 comes off cleaner and more surgical sounding. The FabFilter Pro-Q 2 sounds very clean and transparent. The slightly warmer feel coming from the PSP on the low boost could also be from the slight rolling off on the top end that the PSP has on its boxtone. The Waves Q10 stays a lot more true to the original program, whereas the PSP MasterQ2 seems to roll off some of the top end and gets a bit more mid warmth. We are going to be comparing it to something a little bit newer but not by too muchthe PSP MasterQ2-another highly versatile digital EQ that has been around since We will be testing the Pro-Q 2 set to natural phase.Ĭlick here to open the shootout player and blind test yourselfand if you like them you can buy them at the bottom of the review.

I personally have no interest in full bundles from either FF or waves, they both have stuff I'm not interested in especially waves which is massively bloated with nigh on 30 years worth of stuff I'd never use nor want clogging up my slick system I run with MINIMAL plug ins! Less plugs in PT the better for me, faster loading, less crash risk etc. I use all of those in every project along with a handful of waves 'utlity' things like VU meters, sometimes some of their weird plugs like brauer motion, rarely an eq, sometimes a CLA76 comp. I'm not blown away by their 'analog emulations' as other plug-ins from other companies but plenty of people have used them for years and made big records with them so I keep a few waves plugs, some great utility stuff meters etcI don't like most of the GUIS on the older stuff, and even the new stuff always has laggy guis, that said I mostly use D-command for mixing so it's only an issue when I'm mousing during setup or in-depth sub mixing of a source. Waves are good as they Eqs and comps all pretty much work perfectly with my D-Command's dedicated section, they do good work there. I have to say that I've been using a lot of the Schepps Omni Channel. I can't live without their Dorrough meters either. Scheps73 and NLS find their way into most of my mixes these days. Waves does have some nice emulations which I use for a bit of character here and there. This stands true for pretty much all of their other plug ins. Fab's Desser is also probably the most full featured and cleanest on the market and blows R-Desser out of the water. In natural phase mode it's hard to beat sonically. BTW, my name is Dave, but most people call me I am not going to open a can of worms on this since I'm a "whatever tool does the job best at the time" kind of guy so I will just suggest demoing and making your own decision from actual use. Which Waves bundle? Fabfilter has a much nicer look and I like that I can re-size the plugins but I can't say that either sounds better than the other.

I just recently purchased the waves bundle but the fab filter full bundle looks like masterful software compared to the waves bundles.Īny thoughts? Re: Waves vs Fab filter.
